After watching the film and then seeing the trailer once again I have two things to point out.
First of all, there seems to be a whole conversation between Guy and another fellow outside of a college building(I do not remember seeing this scene but I could be wrong) Plus, there seems to be a scene in which Guy is looking at a future landscape with some tower like buildings along a shore. I know I did not see this scene in the film! Is this the future that Guy screwed up so that the Morlocks could come into being? This would explain some of the Uber-Morlock's conversation.
If anyone else could post any information that they know about these scenes I would appreciate it. It will be interesting to see what they add to the DVD for this film when it comes out.

I know the scene where he talks to the professor in front of the university WAS cut out, there was an interview with the man who played that character and he talked about his disappointment. A lot of that cutting happens because of test audiences, don't you think??? And studios give into them in hopes the movie will do well. Can't answer your other question though.
anybody else???

Yes, I can only speculate they wanted to get to the Time Travel part faster, but it seemed logical to set up the fact that he'd been working on this for a long while...and gotten resistance.

Verne, Wells and other got incredible resistance to their ideas at the time...

But wouldn't that mess up the movies' reason for why the time traveler couldn't change the past??
Like the Uber-Morlock said, the only reason Alex built the time machine was because of him trying to save Emma. If she hadn't of died he wouldn't have built it, that's why he couldn't save her. Guess that's why they left out those scenes, I'm sure audiences would have caught it. Can't have it both ways.
