A Quick Review of "Time Machine" (updated ver.)
Last evening, I went to the movies hoping that the Time Machine (TM) would be better than the movie fare I have seen of late...ahem Collateral Damaged, e.g.
I must say I was visually impressed with TM and its attendant sets. I did however, find the Machine itself a bit gaudy. It seemed mind - boggleing, but perhaps that is what was intended. However, it was well paced and not too short and not to long. Really fine editing, I must say.
Guy Pearce is really coming into his own. Just a short while ago, he was a strutting peacock in "The Count of Monte Cristo". Here in TM, he was less so...much less so. Excellent portrayal. His sidekick...(whose character and name escapes me at the moment), did a yeoman's job. Good, strong characterization.
The guy with the early car was a lot unknown, as was the robber but, they stole their scenes.
The Morlocks were well done...NOT overdone, thank you very much! They were there for a little bit and then gone. Stuff like that scares the bejeezis out of me. The leader had a nice part and that Jonny Winter thing was kinda cool.
The little boy (I think Omero) was good and very cute...what ethnic mix was that? Very intriguing. Anyways...........
The women were exceptional. Emma was nice...but, it must be hell to be killed all the time (not a spoiler). BUT, the woman in the future...the brown one with the finer frame was BANG'IN (Samantha Mumba). Damn, she is fine...I wonder if she is married or involved. I want to get to know her....and in this biz, I just might. Damn, she is fine. Did not know there were black people living in Dublin....Hah, I must have been living with the morlocks.
Other than that, I found TM most enjoyable, even with all the lapses in continuity.
OH say, they filmed in Upstate NY, damn that was the casting call over a year ago for Scenectedy...damn I missed it, but looking at the folk in the film no older brown men were cast.
More later,
Jzero
