The Hulk “smart action” — Coastermad [More reviews by this user] Anticipation Level: How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... Ang Lee's smart direction undercuts the action. When the Hulk battles the tanks, no sound track is needed, no big build-up of explosions, no hype. He knows the scene can stand on its own. The audience takes the perspective of the awe-struck soldier trying to comprehend and take in what is being seen. Because the audience is not overwhelmed by the action sequence, they get sucked into these awe-struck reactions. This not the TV series Hulk from the 70's. This big-green guy is something entirely different. But, if you do your research you will find the film adds no powers that the comic book character didn't already have.
