| How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... |
|
| Ang Lee's smart direction undercuts the action. When the Hulk battles the tanks, no sound track is needed, no big build-up of explosions, no hype. He knows the scene can stand on its own. The audience takes the perspective of the awe-struck soldier trying to comprehend and take in what is being seen. Because the audience is not overwhelmed by the action sequence, they get sucked into these awe-struck reactions. This not the TV series Hulk from the 70's. This big-green guy is something entirely different. But, if you do your research you will find the film adds no powers that the comic book character didn't already have. Ang Lee's vision of the Hulk will stand the test of time as a classic comic book movie. |
