This is my first time posting on this board. I wanted to see the movie first, before talking about it. I just saw it last night, and though I agree it wasn't as good as the first Men In Black, it was a good film. The best character in the both films is K, by far. His suttleness, seriousness, and intelligence makes everything he says or does, that much more funny, likeable, and real. Tommy Lee Jones is truly one of the bests! He's also great at showing compassion and sadness, when certain situations call for him to step out of his usual by the books, hardcore personality. And although I don't think any relationship will be as great as the one between K and J (they bond so well, and need each other whether they admit it, or not), I have to wonder what will become of K and Laura's? (can't remember her name) relationship. Is she his daughter? Will they ever see each other again? (or will she see J again, for that matter.) I loved the ending, though a little confusing as it was.
K:"It rains when you cry." Laura:" A lot of people cry, when it rains." K:"No, it rains WHEN you cry, baby. It rains, because your sad." "Your as beautiful as your mother."
The looks they give each other in that scene. So sweet, and emotional. Theres also all this unspoken understanding between. The sacrifices they all have to make. I'm surprised no one has brought this up, before.

By the way, I also thought Lara Flynn Boyle was a good villian. I liked Vincent D'nofrio better, though. I also liked Frank the Pug, and the worms. But what happened to Charlie and Scrat, towards the end? Zed was very cool, I also thought so in the first film. I liked the VERY end, where he ATTEMPTS to comfort J. And I LOVE how they end the Men In Black films, making you both amazed and pondering about what could be out there, not too far away from us, what are existance may actually be, what may exist in OUR civilization, and how we choose to ignore it all. But I guess the whole film was like that. And yes, I thought Micheal Jackson should have been an Alien. And while I missed Agent L, I'm sure one of the reasons they left her out, is because she wouldn't have been that necessary to the film. |
