January 16, 2002 — Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and biographer Sylvia Nasar won the 14th annual USC Scripter Award. They will share the award, which recognizes both the author and screenwriter of a film adaptation. "I am excited, thrilled and flattered by this award," said Goldsman. "Sylvia's book is an extraordinary biography, and my screenplay is really an extrapolation inspired by John Nash's life." The writers beat out the nominated screenwriter-author teams behind "Bridget Jones's Diary," "In The Bedroom," "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," and "The Shipping News." The award will be presented on March 16 at a black-tie dinner. |
