| Minority Report "Sampled" From Other Movies |

I saw "Minority Report" last night and, on the whole, I liked it. It seemed like a very gripping and intelligent thriller, offering a disturbing vision of the near future. But there were at least three scenes in it that were very similar to scenes that I've seen in other recent movies. You could almost say they were "sampled" from those movies:
1. The scene where Colin Farrell is explaining his theory of the case to Max von Sydow, and Max realizes that Colin is getting too close to the truth (i.e., Max is the killer) and then shoots Colin, is very similar to the scene in "L.A. Confidential" where Kevin Spacey is explaining his theory of the case to James Cromwell, and James realizes that Kevin is getting too close to the truth (i.e., James is the killer) and then shoots Kevin.
2. The scene where John Anderton (Tom Cruise) is walking through the mall with Agatha (Samantha Morton)and Agatha, when brushing up against people, can see into their lives (one example: she brushes up against an African-American woman and tells her "Don't go home. He knows." And the African-American woman looks shocked, but realizes it's real and valid.) is very similar to the scene in "Unbreakable" where Bruce Willis, beginning to discover his clairvoyant powers, brushes up against people in a public place and can see into their lives.
3. The scene where the precog vision of when Max von Sydow commits the murder of Agatha's mother is downloaded onto the viewscreens at the banquet honoring Max von Sydow, and the attendees look on in growing recognition and horror, is similar to the scene in the "The Sixth Sense" where Haley Joel Osment takes the VCR tape from the dead girl (which she offers to him), and then suggests that the dead girl's striken father play it, and then he and the other attendees at the post-funeral gathering realize, in growing recognition and horror, that the dead girl was, in fact, murdered by her mother, by the administration of low doses of poison over a long period of time.
Again, I liked "Minority Report", but I just thought it was interesting to note the similarity of three of its scenes to scenes that have appeared in other recent movies.
