| The Matrix Reloaded |
  |
| Anticipation Level: |
|
|
| How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... |
|
| How can anyone not be totally hyped about the most anticipated movie of the summer? Well, let me tell you, I was over-the-top-hyped over The Matrix: Reloaded. The pre-release media was phenomenal. I examined a barrage of video's, photo's, and interview's. I was ready to be "enlightened". My anticipation level was an easy 4 stars. |

| My thoughts on this movie... |
|
Now, the hard part. With so much anticipation prior to seeing a movie almost anyone would be let down. Well, I wasn't. Reloaded provide a series of twists and turns that even I, an obsessed Matrix-Fanboy was not expecting.
I won't go into specific details about the movie, but the story was tremendous. Many negative reviews have cited that the story was not as compelling as the original. In my opinion the story blew apart the first installment in the trilogy. The primary reasons for not liking the story in Reloaded can be attributed to the following:
1) The audience member simply doesn't understand OR;
2) The audience member has no interest in understanding the movie
Technically speaking Reloaded is one of the best Action films to date. The CGI was simply amazing. I know, I know, many people are comparing it to Star Wars: Episode 1 and 2 in cheesiness but I honestly believe that the effects in Reloaded are truly groundbreaking. They rival the first two LOTR trilogies, and are only outdone by Gollum.
Philosophy. A primary draw to the original for most people was the surprising element of philsophy. The philosophy in Reloaded is, hands-down, deeper than that of the original. We are introduced to such themes as: Free Will, Determinism, Existence, and Ethical Relations. The "blow-away" factor is not the same as the original but rather the complete opposite. In many cases I found that the movie put my exact feelings on a certain subject into an acceptable context in which almost anyone could understand them.
All in all Reloaded could have gotten 4 stars. The only reason it doesn't is because it doesn't finish the story. The film does feel like a prolouge to Revolutions but if this is just the prolouge than I would seriously prepare to be completely blown away by Revolutions. |
