Ioan Gruffudd told SCI FI Wire that the first film serves as the origin story, paving the way for sequels and further character development. "This is sort of a prequel in a sense, setting up how we became the Fantastic Four," Gruffudd said in a news conference in New York. "Certainly from my character's point of view he was a bit of a geek, a bit of a dork, living inside of his mind, and then he has a great arc and becomes a leader towards the end."
