July 10, 2005 — The 20th Century Fox adaptation of the Marvel comic, Fantastic Four, has surpassed all expectations by opening in first place with a strong 56$ million on opening weekend. The debut is the third biggest of the year. The movie has also become the fifth biggest opening debut for the month of July, passed the first X-Men movie, which made 54.6$ million opening weekend and coming in behind War of the Worlds. There have been speculations that Fantastic Four is destined to become another Hulk, having a huge success the first week but then dropping catastrophically the following week.
