March 5, 2001 — Carrey has his female lead, and it's Laurie Holden (The X-Files). Although Holden's been around acting since The Martian Chronicles miniseries back in 1979 (Jesus, we feel old now), this is her first lead role. Darabont says that he's presenting a fresh face and he expects she'll "blow people away."
