Superman Returns “Greatest Film ever???” — DavidSchuler [More reviews by this user] Anticipation Level: How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... So if the tagline for this article caught your eye, then keep an open mind and read on...This film, Superman Returns, could quite possibly be one of, if not THE greatest film ever made. You wonder why I take the leap in giving it such praise, but it's actually quite simple. Time. Time is money, time is life, time is death, time is what everything revolves around- but time well spent, is something to praise. Warner Brothers and DC comics have been fighting for the resurrection of Superman on the big screen for nearly 20 years now, and there have been countless scripts, ideas, concepts, and pitches offerred and rejected...These two mega-companies are a bit over-protective of their blue and red wonder, and I believe it will show in the film that they truly do care about the image that Superman is to portray...Honestly, if they wanted to, they could have easily thrown a half ass big budget film together with plenty of action and SFX, because anything with that famous "S" logo will sell itself in mass quantity with little promotion cost. Bryan Singer himself(currently directing Superman Returns) mentioned that if you went into a village in the middle of a jungle somewhere with a Holy cross and a Superman emblem, there would be 50/50 recognition. I agree. Superman is HUGE....Which is why I am eager to see what took them so long to get him back up on the big screen. Will they create a timeless story of a hero struggling to find his place in our world and his lovers heart? Will the effects be so believable that there will be no room for skeptics or finger pointers? Will we truly believe during this film that this man actually CAN do the things he does, AND capture our hearts? I say YES. Absolutely.
