Superman Returns “casting comment.....” — Kryptofan [More reviews by this user] Anticipation Level: How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... Just for the record, can we lay off the argument that the casting of an unknown for Superman equals trouble. Do you all forget the actor cast back in 1978 to play the Man of Steel? Christopher Reeve was an unknown too. Let us all hold off judgement of young Brandon until we see how he "fills the cape". As for Spacey.....this choice is dead on. Who better to play the complicated, multifaceted role of this evil genius? Just watch either SEVEN, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, or even his comic stints on SNL and you'll see he can nail the part. And don't forget his breakout role (USUAL SUSPECTS) was under Bryan Synger's direction so the chemistry for a great performance is there.
