See this is why I really hate Singer and SR.
Superman is a hugely viable franchise.
He is, and always will be an amazing character.
But the SUPERMAN MOVIE we've always wanted and needed to see has yet to be made.
And that's the thing. You see SR was not a be-all, end-all SUPERMAN movie. It was a BRYAN SINGER movie with a version of Superman in it.
It was Bryan Singer's Superman.
That sure as Hell ain't MY Superman.
SR was a BAD Superman movie.
Sure, you can like it if you want to delude yourself. And you can say it was a good MOVIE...but it was a bad SUPERMAN movie.
I mean of all the stories to tell and all the villains, all the costumes and the actors, all the drama, set pieces, and action sequences are you gonna stand there and tell me that this is the best they could do for a SUPERMAN movie or even that this is great?
There's so much to be done with a SUPERMAN movie and this movie, if nothing else, proved that.
I think that generally audiences were expecting the action to be ten-fold what it was. And they were right to expect it. Bryan Singer was wrong and idiotic not to deliver it. With the special effects these days, that's the SUPERMAN movie that people wanted to see. They wanted to see an adventure.
Ultimately the WB got exactly what they deserved and as long as they keep screwing up very simple things, I enjoy watching them take the hit.
As much of the country is left stranded for Christmas due to a storm, I wonder what are their thoughts on the credibility of Global Warming? HAHA...
Been saying this for YEARS |

Nightwing said: Is the cinematic Superman is dead? Nope. Far from it. While it's true SR wasn't a huge hit like WB wanted, but it's far from being a big failure. With them doing a sequel, it surely not a failure. Plus, SR doesn't just rely on just theater to make money. There are DVD, merchandise, etc. Plus, it's still a big hit with the IMAX. I heard it continue to break records.
Why do you continue to ignore stone cold facts presented to you?? WB has said themselves that DVD sales will not make up the nearly $190 million gap between budget and breaking even...They are doing a sequel because their partner on SR didn't take as big of a hit and THEY want to make a sequel in the hopes of gaining a profit from the FRANCHISE...
If this film had a $150 million budget and made what it has, THEN and only then could you say it was not a failure. A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." - Edward R. Murrow

I didn't see him try to argue with him, he just gave his opinion on the post question why did you decide to jump into it with him?
Actually yes he did. Having the opinion that the cinematic Superman isn't dead is fine. But Nightwing actually mentioned SR. By stating that it was "far from a big failure" he again ignored the publicly available monetary facts that this film is still nearly $190 million from breaking even. If a combined $190 million loss between investors is not a big failure, then I don't want to know what is.
Yes, DVD sales should get some of that back, but they still have to pay for the manufacturing and distribution of those too. DVD's aren't all profit. Rentals make nothing because the rental outlets buy those DVD's at a retail price which is why you see them for sale at Blockbuster for $5 to $10 more than at Best Buy. They need to make a profit on what they paid.
Seriously Forrest, I'm done opinion wise. Opinions in here seem to matter to no one. If I can't back something up with facts that anyone can find doing a Google search I won't even bother anymore. Nightwing just doesn't seem to understand the money side of things even when its put right in his face. A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." - Edward R. Murrow
