June 20, 2002 — Scooby and the gang will be back in 2004, reports Reuters. The original director (Raja Gosnell) and cast will return. The sequel script's being written by original scribe James Gunn.

"We promised audiences a summer movie the whole family could enjoy together, and they gave us a tremendous opening weekend," said Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Warner Bros.' president of worldwide productions. "We're certain we've got another great Scooby-Doo story to tell in movie theaters two years from now."
