Hello all,
I am Professor of Semantics, Linguistics, Semiology and Linguini at Loughborough University. My speciality subject is cartoons that have been made into films. There are two categories. The first is two-dimensional comic strips that have been filmed, such as X-men, and Ghost World. These have been successful in roughly 63% of big screen adaptations.
And on the other hand, there are adaptations from crappy hanna barbera TV animations like Inspector Gadget and Flintstones, with very little plot, a bad laugh track, and cheap essential scenery that you see going past again and again in the chase sequences. These basically suck in 89% of cases. Inspector gadget being a notable exception.
Well, the jury is out on Scooby Doo. Personally, I am waiting for Jackass the movie.
