|
Scrappy Doo was added to the show in the early 1980's... studio execs thought that adding a new character would refresh interest in the cartoon and had the puppy with the Napolean complex replace "thinking members" Fred and Velma. The reason they made him the villain, in the movie, is because the character is largely dispised by everyone over the age of 25... who feel that his presence was the death rattle of an otherwise fine cartoon. Younger people, who hadn't had 15 years of Scrappy-less Scooby cartoons, don't seem to hold the character in the same low esteem.
Sarcastic is mean, it's heavy -- it's funny, sure, but it's mean. I do both, but this was flip. |
