| How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... |
|
If "Marines going to the Predator home planet and discovering their Earth invasion plans" is the story that they are going with then two things are wrong with this. The first, that would go TOTALLY against what the Predators are as a race. They are not an evil Kilngon empire bent on complete domination of the universe. They are a hunter race and no more. I think that's why fans respect the Predator as a race. They have all that technology and they choose not to wage galactic wars but instead they hunt for sport. Pretty much the exact opposite of our race. And second, Hollywood must be experiencing a total lack of talent. If that's the best they could come up with then us as consumers are in for a lot of "eye-candy" films with weak stories. AVP did no justice to fans of the Alien Saga and the Predator films. Myself, am a fan of both. AVP had a damn good story but it was horribly underdeveloped. Character development was poor and not to mention it's PG-13 rating. All of the previous Alien and Predator movies are rated R. What the hell were they thinking? Was their intended target audience kids? Parents don't care as much about a violent movie as they do the sexual content and maybe some of the language. But that is where the people with the money once again screw it up. It's their job to maintain the financial integrity of the movie, not destroy it. All they did was turn away it's best source of money: the fans. Remember how bad they messed up the first X-men? None of the characters were like we knew them in the comic books. They knew that they had messed up so when they went to make Spider-man they promissed that they weren't going to change anything that we remember. Well except for the webbing coming out of his wrists as oppose to the metal web-shooters we remember in the comic book. If they want to successfully pull off a Predator 3 then they need to stick with the tradition and story of the originals. I write scripts of my own and if I had my foot in Hollywoods door I gaurantee that I could give them a winning story and screenplay. But until that day comes I guess we'll be stuck with weak storys and movies starring the Olsen twins. But those two go hand-in-hand like Koolaid and sugar. Thanks.
