Just got back from a trip, found this, is actually old news but has seemingly not been posted yet, so here it is:

AICN Nimrod Antal is directing PREDATORS

the article also has a QA with producer Rodriguez, not revealing much, but has some interesting tidbits.

I can't go too much into the story right now, because we're still writing. But it still involves a very intense group of people stranded on a Predator planet discovering unspeakable horrors (that are not always from outside their group). So like the original movie, the title does have a double meaning. Aliens was a different take on the Alien idea, and an original movie in it's own right, and that's what we want to do with this.

Anyway, after reading all of this all I can ask is: who? I've never heard of him nor any of his movies. Is he any good?

I am intregued to see what they do with the Predator's home world but I am still skeptical about this movie. I don't know, I feel that next summer is going to be the most unexciting and underwhelming for summer movies of recent years, with the odd exception.

2. Star Trek
3. District 9
4. Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I have faith in Robert Rodriguez, but I'm still skeptical as well about this movie.

So it's Tarantino and Rodriguez doing Predator? Interesting.

It would be interesting to show the Preator homeworld, but I hope they go into things like why they see in the infrared part of the spectrum. Maybe showing humans having a hard time "seeing" on their world. Also, what are they "Predators" of on their own world? It has great potential I think, if handled correctly.

Actually that is a good point. For the Predator's to become such strong and efficient hunters, they must have had worthy prey on their home world to gain this status and develop their skills. I would like to see this in some form.
