8-foot Attack Cruiser Model auction begins today

SUBMITTED BY Fred Hill

December 15, 2005

There is a new LEGO auction on eBay with a Star Wars theme. An 8-foot long Rebel Attack Cruiser is up for grabs. 100% of the proceeds with benefit Habitat for Humanity's Hurricane Relief Effort. The auction ends December 24th at noon.

Give a gift of galactic proportions this holiday season to your favorite LEGO(R) Star Wars(TM) fan! Beginning today, Star Wars and LEGO fans alike may bid online at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6022866702 to own a one-of-a-kind 8-foot LEGO Rebel Attack Cruiser(TM) model certified for authenticity by George Lucas.

As culmination to the top-selling 2005 LEGO Star Wars product line, Master Builder Erik Varszegi created and built the model which spans 8-feet, weighs over 150 pounds and includes over 35,000 LEGO pieces. Varszegi designed the model exclusively for display at Celebration III, ComicCon, LEGOLAND(R) California and several other national LEGO events to promote the final episode in the Star Wars saga.

"Since 1999 when Star Wars became the very first licensed product line in LEGO Group history, the passion and enthusiasm for experiencing the Star Wars franchise through the medium of LEGO bricks has been fantastic," says Michael Moynihan, senior director of marketing, LEGO Systems. "Therefore, it seems only appropriate that after the Episode III release our collective fans have the opportunity to bid on, own and showcase this commemorative piece of LEGO and Star Wars memorabilia."
