August 2, 2005 — Moviegoers in Japan get a little extra thrill while watching ROTS. If they don't move because of the sound, they will move from their seat. United Cinema Kishiwada complex has installed seats will will movie and react to the movie.
To really feel the sound and fury of action films, the United Cinema Kishiwada complex here seems to have the answer: It has installed innovative vibrating seats.
The vibrating system, dubbed "Winble," is rigged to shudder whenever the movie soundtrack starts to get loud-be it a passing locomotive, crashing cars or collapsing buildings.
The four "vibro-transducer" devices installed in the back and bottom of each seat convert all sounds of a certain audio frequency into motions that rock each viewer.
