March 5, 2001 — Word has it that Renny Harlin's racing drama, Driven, has scored very well in a recent test screening. While talking to Variety columnist Army Archerd, the director revealed the a test screening last week went so well that Warner Bros. sees no reason for further testing. Harlin adds, "I was surprised women rated it even higher that the men!" Regarding his film's interpretation of the world of racing, Harlin says that it is "respectful to the extreme sport. We don't try to exploit it." When asked, in relation to racing legend Dale Earnhardt's demise, if there would be racing fatalities in the film, Harlin says, "No, but there are serious accidents, but I didn't want to exploit the emotions of the families involved." Harlin is currently editing the picture. |
