Tippett Studios talks about VFX

SUBMITTED BY Fred Hill

April 18, 2002

Want to know some of the visual shots were done for Blade 2? Then check out the story on Tippett Studios from VFXPro.com.

Picking up where "Blade" left off, "Blade II" offers raucous action and ghoulish imagery designed to make you squirm. The movie, helmed by Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, has received mixed reviews, but one thing is certain: the muzzle on the mutant vampires (called 'reapers') will freak you out. Blair Clark and Craig Hayes supervised the near-100 visual effects shots awarded to Tippett Studios by VFX producer Susan McCloud and supervisor Nick Brook. The two worked closely with Brook and del Toro to develop virtual liberated-camera (L-Cam) shots and the 'maw' shots -- these include the aforementioned CG extension that the reapers display before devouring their prey. Clark and Hayes took the time to talk with VFXPro about the production in Prague and the fully CG shots they created for Blade's final showdown...
