May 12, 2002 — From a scooper for Super-Hero Hype, who transcribed the following quote from Wesley Snipes from a magazine entitled 'Spider-Man and Other Comic Book Heroes':
"Well, T'Challa is a King, So I'll do Macbeth and Hotspur, and then I'll do Black Panther. That really has a lot to do with it-The idea of being able to do something so rich. And showing off Africa in its glory? Oh, man. And the idea of learning how to hang out with panthers and getting close to them? I'm down. It's going to be a real challenge, though, because I don't want any of the same idiosyncrasies or mannerisms that are associated with Blade. What is the voice going to be like, the intonation and cadence? T'Challa is much more articulate than Blade. He is an anthropologist, a scientist, a biologist and a teacher. All of that must blend with the action stuff, but at the same time not be like Blade, so that people don't get them twisted and are able to suspend their reality." |
