December 11, 2001 — Screenwriters Utopia looked at the 'Ali' script, and liked what they saw. Here's a clip:

The Rivele and Wilkinson draft I have is a 136-pages dated September 23rd, 1999, and it is exceptional in my opinion. It's dramatic and still offers a lot of detail on the ins and outs of Ali's life. It could have been shot as is, but wasnt. Director/producer Michael Mann brought in Oscar winner screenwriter Eric Roth for rewriting. I cant imagine what needed to be changed, but Im sure Roth did an excellent job.
