Was the painting "vanilla sky" done by Monet or is it a creation of the movie? I haven't been able to find it in Monet's works but I thought the title of the painting might be in French or a lesser known painting. Thanks, ja_johnson@coloradocolleg e.edu.
If you look at"Impression: Sunrise (by Monet) it looks like the sky in Vanilla Sky. Now I think I understand the whole darn movie!!!
Impressionist art was all about how images could evoke feelings. It was criticized because it was somewhat blurry, not "real" enough. But that's the whole point.
Everyone (including me) is trying to figure out the plot of this movie because that's what we're used to. But maybe the story doesn't matter. Maybe it's all about modern-day impressionism--song, lyrics, cars, clothes, TV images, movies. They all can bring out powerful emotions in us. Just look at the postings here. People are obviously affected by the songs and images in the movie.
Wow. Now I think it finally makes sense.
