Test Screening Review of "Joyride"

SUBMITTED BY Toad

March 17, 2001

Recently, a reviewer for Coming Attractions attended a Test Screening of the new 20th Century Fox Thirller "Joyride." He did'nt expect the Movie to be all that it was, suprisingly though. It was good!

"I don't normally enjoy these types of movies, and I would hate to see this become horror franchise with numerous sequels. However I will say that the movie was quite entertaining and had my girlfriend jumping from her seat into mine more than a few times. Steve Zahn was great as both a comic relief and one scared puppy throughout the film. Leelee Sobieski was very hot! (Don't tell my girlfriend I said that though.) I think if this movie is marketed correctly it will make a tidy sum. If you like to be scared, go check this movie out!"

The premise, Lewis Thomas's spur of the moment cross country drive, in an attempt to connect romantically with a long time female friend (Venna), takes an unexpected turn. After a conversation with his mother he learns that his brother Fuller has been arrested in Salt Lake City, not far from his drive. After he decides to bail him out, Fuller tags along for the ride and he and his brother begin to bond on the road. The pruchase of a CB creates a diversion to pass the time as the boys play a little gender bending CB game, pretending to be a woman named Candy Cane, with a someone called Rusty Nail. In an effort to teach a lesson to a jerk at a hotel, Fuller has his brother entice Rusty Nail to the hotel in the hopes of a romatic encounter with their ficticious female 'Candy Cane', sending him to the jerk's room for a laugh. The joke turns horrifically wrong the following morning when the man in the room next door is found on the highway with his jaw torn from his face. From then on it is a high speed rollercoaster until the end of the film.

"Joyride" opens nationwide September 21st 2001!
