Plot synopsis in Total Film

SUBMITTED BY Nicole

March 14, 2001 — Spy pics have always been popular, but for some reason, Hollywood greenlighters have gone espionage crazy. With "Spy Kids", "Quiller Solitaire", "The Tailor of Panama" and "Swordfish" all on the way, mulitplexes are set to be stuffed with shifty blokes who hang around duck ponds and read newspapers with eye-holes cut out of them. Or something. Still, the most enticing of the bunch has to be Tony "True Romance" Scott's latest, "The Spy Game", which started shooting in November and stars Brad Pitt as Tom Bishop, a CIA snoop who's arrested in China, forcing old mentor Nathan Muir (Robert Redford) back into the field to help him out. The shoot looks typically globetrottey, involving London, Budapest, Ireland and Turkey. Given Redford's involvement and the retro, Cold War setting, it's safe to expect more "Three Days of the Condor" than Bond.
