The Trades caught an early screening of "Serendipity," opening October 5th, and here's a clip from their review...
Timing is everything--leaving for work five minutes too late can get you stuck in heavy rush-hour traffic, while leaving five minutes earlier will get you to work early through little or no traffic. This is also applicable to love: asking a crush for a date needs to be done at the right time or a whole slew of negatives could arise from the situation--the person may have lost interest in you, suddenly acquired a new significant other, or realized you should only be friends. Timing is one of the main underlying themes in Serendipity, starring Kate Beckinsale as Sara and John Cusack as Jonathan.
We find Sara and Jonathan meeting by chance in a department store during the holidays, which results in sparks flying all over the place in a spectacular show of instant chemistry. "Chemistry" between characters is often portrayed--often in very trite ways-- in films, but the onscreen warmth and enthusiasm shared by Beckinsale and Cusack really made me feel like something like that was possible for me in real life...
