July 26, 2001 — British actress Helena Bonham Carter is set to star with Steve Martin in a new comedy about a dentist. In the film Novocaine, funnyman Martin will play a successful dentist whose life is thrown into turmoil by the arrival of his wayward brother. The $26 million movie will also star Laura Dern as Martin's fiancee, and Elias Koteas as his brother. Planet Of The Apes star Bonham Carter plays a patient who seduces Martin, causing further chaos. The film, due for release later this year, has been written and directed by David Atkins. A movie source says, "Helena is hysterical. She has been waiting for a good comedy venture for some time."
