January 30, 2001 — The new 20th Century Fox feature, now in post-production, will not be released in the year 2000. Monkeybone stars Brendan Fraser and Whoopi Goldberg and is directed by Henry Selick. Says Anonymous: "Monkeybone's release date is ironically in as much a state of limbo as its protagonist. There are currently no plans for any kind of 2000 release with Fox likely taking a wait and see approach on how well Fraser's Bedazzled does before projecting a release quarter for next year. There are also no announced plans to request placement of Monkeybone trailers on any remaining Fox 2000 films (Bedazzled, Men of Honor will promote Cast Away, with Cast Away's trailers yet to be determined) "Personally, after looking at the advance screening reactions that hit a few months ago, I'd have to think Fox is going to have to go into damage control and release this one as quietly as possible with it being lucky if it gets the Lost Souls treatment. Mmmm, anyone want to promise they'll eat a Toy Fair Monkeybone candybar the day it gets released? ;)" Should we expect much out of this movie?
