I have the VHS release from years ago, it was all 6 episodes edited together into a movie format, similar to how Doctor Who story arcs are done on PBS over here. At the time, it was the only way I had to obtain a copy, but...
it now sits gathering dust as I just picked up the DVD set. MUCH better! All 6 episodes are on the first disc, as individual episodes, the way it originally aired! And they've been digitally remastered, so the video quality is FAR superior to the old VHS edition.
And disc 2 includes lots of bonus materials, including The Making of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , a behind the scenes special released on VHS years ago.
All-in-all, the DVD is the ONLY way to go! If you don't have a DVD player yet, what the heck are you waiting for? For heaven's sake, people, they're only $150 (US) or LESS now! Join the rest of us in this little thing we like to call the 21st century!
"The Force is strong with this one!" ^_^
Once again, the call to battle has been sounded...
