Speaking as an American, I can say that it's an excellent film. Ten out of ten for style, humor, FX and maintaining audience interest. The audience around me seemed to "get it", although I'm not sure if that means anything. Since it's opening day, the theatre was full of die hard H2G2 fans of all sorts.

Some of the humor was indeed very British. The bit with Arthur waiting in the que without a spot of bother went over my head. I'm logical enough to assume that ques are absurdly common in the UK from this obvious joke, but I didn't find it funny. So what? I'm sure there were a few other jokes that I didn't even notice due to the need to be British to "get it." I got the movie as a whole, and that's what is important.

Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I don't always recognize "british" humor, but I loved the movie because a lot of funny scenes made me laugh out loud!

For those who don't know me (which means for most of you), I have to tell you I'm the galaxy's biggest Gollum fan! If anyone else thinks he's cute, please write to me so I can see I'm not the only one and show my friends that I'm not totally crazy...
