House of 1000 Corpses

Just to warn you ahead of time, this review does contain spoilers, you were warned.

As everyone knows the plot for this film goes like "Two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan. Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that await."

Well I just finished watching House of 1000 Corpses and what to say. Was it everything I expected? Well Sort of. Is Rob Zombie a good director? Yes he's a good director. Where to begin. Well the movie started with a commercial from Captain Spaulding's House of Monsters and Madness (funny part to look at is when he also says you can take home his bbq chicken) and after a conversation with this old guy, these robbers attempt a robbery but are obviously taken down and the clown finishes the job (funny quote "damn, got blood all over my best clown suit")

Then the credits roll and Rob Zombies name appears on screen which put a smile on my face because his movie has finally been released. The title "House of 1000 Corpses" appears and during the intro to all of the actors in the film I believe they're operating on someone in the background.

Anyway the movie begins and it goes to the 2 couples explained in the plot. They run out of gas and have to stop at a gas station, which is Captain Spaulding's. They get a tour of the House of Monsters and Madness, which is the history of all the serial killers (for example Ed Gein {aka Leatherface}, Dr. Satan, etc.)After the tour they get a map from Captain Spaulding to where Dr. Satan was buried and then they're off again.

On the way they pick up a hitchhiker named Baby. Anyway one thing I want to add is that Rob Zombie's way of directing is amazing in how he flashes extra info that ties into the movie. If you don't understand what that means, you'll know when you see the movie.Anyway they pick up Baby and take her to her home and that's when the mayhem and fun begins.

I won't give away much more rather leave you with some idea of what the movie is like, therefore making you see it. You won't be disappointed. The movie is weird and sadistic; believe me were lucky Lion Gates films picked this one up. It ranks up there with Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Just a few notes to leave you with:

- This movie is Rated R for a reason it is gory and violent, everything that it's said to be.

- The character Tiny is a character I sort of felt sorry for because of a mishap that happened to him.

- The three characters names were Jerry, Denise and the rest I didn't really catch.

- Some good quotes "Humans run like scary little rabbits, run rabbit run...run rabbit..RUN!" Otis

- Otis played by Bill Moseley is played perfectly, is there a roler that this guy can take on? (Fame was Texas Chainsaw Massacre II, in which he played the screwed up person named Chop-top) This actor knows how to take in a role....I don't want to how he gets into his roles...what research he does.

- Captain Spaulding played by Sid Haig, engulfs the laughter and insanity that is his rolse. He makes you laugh whcih may be the only laughs you get during this flick.

- A gross scene is when one of the girls fathers goes looking for his daughter and ends up being killed and getting his skin torn off and worn by Otis.

- You do get to see Dr. Satan at the end, but I'll let you see for yourself.

- And finally the ending leaves you with your imagination, so your not really sure what happens to the lead character.

Thank you for reading my review and I hope you'll see this movie April 11th, you won't be disappointed. ENJOY!
