Doom “The Facts” — ThatPerson [More reviews by this user] Anticipation Level: How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... The Facts at the top of this page state .. <i>Based on the third game in the series, which focuses on a vastly outnumbered hero fights off the forces of hell as they come from the portal onto a deserted paramilitary base on Mars, where a scientific experiment hasn't gone according to plan.</i> The facts according to Mr Callaham (the guy who wrote the screenplay) are that the vastly outnumbered hero is actually a SWAT team, and the monsters have nothing to do with hell, but are the results of a "super virus" gone wrong on the scientists in some research centre, on a planet which isn't Mars.
