Let me review this in stages, of exactly how I'd review it and rate it at certain points.
Begining. 8/10 possibly go higher who knows, this is before I've seen it, the fact that it's called Doom and the trailer looks good gets it this far. I'm expecting "Aliens" with Demons ... yea!
Opening scenes. Wo' this looks good, nice lighting. Moster kept in the dark working for me. 8/10
Oooh title sequence bit cheesy... ack I'll let it pass.
Soldiers, Oh there's the Rock looking all hard n stuff. This platoons more based on the Commandos from "Predator" (Well thats a kick ass movie). Hmmm some of these guys are annoying I'm afraid you loose a point. 7/10
Ok we're on mars, cinamatography is good, sound design good. Liking the creatures know we've got more to come acting and tone is growing more fantastic thoe. 7/10
Ok I'm getting bored, show me the creatures, you are not scaring me, this is the wrong sort of film to be trying the less is more thing. 7/10
Oh theres one! Some annoying people are dead...great 7.5/10
What's that you say miss sterotypical Female scientist? This creature was human...so your saying the zombie things transform into the creatures so the writers have completly bipassed the whole demons from hell thing?..thanks. 6/10

Woa is he swinging a computer like a mase? Cheee-sey! 6/10
Hey the Rocks turning bad, wanting that poor kid to kill innocent people, liking this darker thing! 7/10.
Yes everyone is dead, specially that bad Mr Rock, and damb gory too! 7.5/10
Why she injecting him with this extra chromosome? Oh that'll be like when you get rage in the game..ok. Wow best bit of the film the first person, this is being done so well plenty of monsters yea. 8/10
What? Why is the Rock back? Oh don't remind me about your made up parasite tounge I was trying to forget that. Whats this now? There gonna fight. OMG how cheesy and stupid is this fight, yea I remeber this from the game. Sooo stupid the Rock is doing wresteling moves I'm afraid you loose a hole lotta points for that!
End verdict: 4/10 I feel like I've just seen Paul Anderson's Resident Evil on mars. |
