Okay, I am DEFINITELY NOT the video game type person, but this movie TOTALLY ROCKED! I saw it at an employee screening at work, and it was so completely entertaining, my friend and I could not stop talking about it. It obviously isn't Oscar material, but it was so much fun. I really enjoyed this movie, and I hope y'all do too!

I'm not trying to flame, this is my honest opinion. It was so bad it was hilarious. It was just uneventful, you didn't even get to see that many monster/demons or what ever they were. They never explained why Pinky changed into that.... well Pinky instead of a regular monster like the rest. I was hoping to see some imps and other goodies. I'm just glad I got to go see it free last night at a midnight showing. Now don't attack me because you liked it, this is just how I feel about the movie.

Despite the director saying he wanted it to be different than any other horror movie, Doom IS the definition of horror cliche made into a movie. From[SPOILER] splitting up and being killed, to the guy who decides to go to the bathroom after a monster is spotted [/SPOILER]. I'm Sorry, I'm a big fan of the Doom games, and I know its wasn't going to be like the game, but after everything the director, actors and even ID software was saying I was actually expecting a pretty good horror movie, not neccasrily a game adaptation.

Is it just me or did Karl Urban not do a great job of acting in this movie. I could have swore he was a better actor, so much so that I actually believe he just wasn't trying.

To justify what I'm saying here is a list of everything that bugged me:

1.[SPOILER] There is nothing original about it, its RE in space with a psychological aspect that decides if you benefit from the new gene or mutate [/SPOILER]
2.[SPOILER] They somewhat show that John Grimm had history in Mars, but the most we learn is where IT happened, we never learn WHAT happened [/SPOILER]
3.[SPOILER] Everybody who mutates either turns into a zombie or one kind of monster if they are given time to mutate, yet Pinky is attacked and later we see him as Pinky from the game and there is no explanation as to way he mutated a different way so quickly [/SPOILER]
4.[SPOILER] The marines pump(can't use the right term, it'll be cesnored) there guns three times within the time they get their guns to when they arrive at the Arc. And they still pump the guns another two more times before they see anything. In fact they pump them when ever the camera goes from one marine to the other lol. [/SPOILER]
5.[SPOILER] Where did that asian doctor come from!? They never introduce her and when they find that one guy the next scene they have her helping the marines take him to the lab and they then go on like we are suppose to know her. [/SPOILER]
6.[SPOILER] The final figh scene was boring and anti-climatic. After the Rock spoiled it in an interview and said he becomes "a bad mother (explicit)", I was actually expecting a big mutation, I mean it happened to Pinky with no explanation, why not him. Instead this big bad evil sarge is.....sarge with boils on his face and super strength. The fight itself was just plain boring, there should have been more to it [/SPOILER]

I personally liked it as I'm sure my review shows... Then again.. anything with Karl Urban always get bonus points from this NKK

I do agree there were some parts that could've been handled better, but overall it will be something I shall own on DVD when it comes out...

This movie was great. True it did have very little monsters it it but was just greart other wise. I say it deliverd where it count's. Troughly entertaing and action packed. The whole first person segment was cool specialy the fight with Pinky. And the Rock RULES!! and plays a pretty good good guy turning bad. You know he picked that role. They offered him Reaper but he liked Sarge better.

this movie was so so so cheesy...but it can be because its game ot movie and video games are cheesy. dont get me wrong i love video games large...i used to play until i sold my systems to get ready for the next generation of consoles. the cgi in this movie...like blood after the part with duke...kind of bad but yet still ok. someone said in post earlier about not seeing imps..[SPOILER] hellknights, normal zombies, pinky, and imps were the only mosters you see. [/SPOILER]. the thing that kind of bothered me was rock said it was like taking the video game and putting it into a movie..well if so how come there was no mention of Dr. Batrugar. the movie left everything wide open for a new movie, which i hope they started right away, i need to no what new monsters they'll bring in for this one. but im sure youll see Batrugar in number 2. and im sure youll also see the rock back to recapture his roll as sarge [SPOILER] tank bottom and BFG in shoulder. it has to be done [/SPOILER]. all in all i really enjoyed it and cant wait for a number 2. i class this as a prequel. the fun is just getting started..

I believe that is to add some mystery to the character, and maybe a subplot in the sequel.

[SPOILER] I think the reason for the different monsters were based on the person. Based on the evil inside of you, they would changed into these monsters. What if people who were more evil than others changed into bigger, badder monsters. That's the way i took it. Maybed Pinky had a lot of anger hidden within him. I mean he is missing half his body, that would make anyone mad. [/SPOILER]
