Yesterday while watching the Doom trailer again, I suddenly got the thought of trying out the first person view with my Camcorder. I first had to think about how I was gonna get it to work since I didn't have an actual shoulder mount. I improvised though and took 2 belts and strapped them around the camera and hand the camera sitting on my right shoulder. With the belts quite tight, the camera stayed pretty well, even when I walked or ran. I then went in my closet and got out some toy guns (from my younger years) and even this toy shotgun. The hard part was getting them in the right postion to where they showed my hand good and were sitting in the bottom right corner (so that when I played it back, it was in the usual postion like any FPS). When I was holding the shotgun, it was at a better angle because of how long it was. The handgun however was kind of harder cause it was smaller, and often it ended up almost off camera when I held is outward. After a few trys of recording and playing back, I figured out the right angle though. The results were spectacular! It really looked like first person, so I was very pleased. If I can just upload it to my computer, I can show anyone who perhaps wants to see it. Keep in mind its only test footage, no actual film. Maybe in the meantime though I can put up some pictures.
