It's not Oscar material but it definitely works, I'm told — as an audience film, at least. It'll be opening on December 21, in the slot previously held by Gangs of New York before it was deep-sixed and shoved into '02. Directed by James Mangold (Copland, Heavy), Jackman's Leopold is a guy transported from the late 19th century into present-day New York — a classic fish-out-of-water. Ryan's Kate, an ex-girlfriend of one of the scientists who engineered the time-traveling, winds up giving Leopold a tour of 21st-century Manhattan. And you know the rest."
