Hey Guys.

I've got a few inside sources myself, and while Indy 6 hasn't been written in stone yet, I HAVE heard that Indy 5 has been signed.

I figure that maybe the reason that Indy 4 didn't have all that great a theme was because they were saving the "religious" artifacts for the next couple of movies.

What do y'all think of a story based on the search for the Spear of Longinus? It makes sense.

Searching for the Spear of Longinus would certianly be getting back to the religious themed relic deal. Not a bad idea really, but the Spear of Destiny like The Holy Grail is probably just a lot of hokum and there is so little to say about it, because even the legends are few. Whoever writes it will have to come up with additional legends to flesh the whole thing out.

I was first hoping that Indy4 would be about the Holy Lance, but instead we got Aliens thanks to Lucas.

If Indy5 went back to its original root with biblical relics, then i would be fine with it as long as Lucas is NOT involved cause he'll probably make the story that aliens stabbed Jesus' side.

Too bad they couldnt make this story back in the day and used Nazi's again.

Why is everyone so sure it was Lucas' idea to put in aliens? Or that he's the only one responsible? Speilberg has made many many many movies with aliens, and considering the aliens in this film looked eerily similar to the ones from Close Encounters, I just don't think you can put all the blame on Lucas, everyone is responsible (though I loved the film so I love them for it)

That would be cool, though if they did make another anything interesting would satisfy me, biblical, paranormal, interdimensional whatever it's all cool to me.

Look aliens are a part of the Indy story arc as in there have been other Indy novels written about aliens . I think they wanted to give the biblical artifacs a rest for this one & probably will bring one back for the next one .

You're acting as if Lucas weren't responsible for indy one through three he probabely was the driving force behind the writing of the first three and surely the main creative force (Indiana is after all his dog's name)

But I believe using the spear of destiny could be a great excuse to bring back some nazi remnant force or something, considering all the rumours of Hitler and his search for everything occult.

Still, I think they shouldn't make another one, Indy seemed to settle down happily in part 4 and I really don't want a movie titled "indiana jones" with mutt as the main protagonist

Well they could do this story if they continue doing the progressive age line.

There is rumor it was sent from Germany to Antarctica for safe keeping per Hilter's orders. Then in the late 70's it was recovered. So that could be a possible point...

You are SO ridiculous. I hope you realize that Indiana Jones wouldn't even EXIST...AT ALL...if it wasn't for Lucas. AND that Lucas came up with the story for ALL the Indiana Jones movies. AND that Spielberg approved the Magoffins for ALL the movies. AND Spielberg didn't even want to do The Holy Grail at 1st but Lucas convinced him to do another one of your precious Bible stories. AND...ALL the movies have to do with a religious item. "It depends on who your God is." And I could go on and on about how ridiculous you sound. So please just pull the "I Hate Lucas" Stick out of your butt already and BE QUIET.

I should have expected this coming from a star wars nerd. Well said. Now go watch Star War 4, special edition, limited edition, original edition, etc. and countdown the days to your stupid cartoon star wars movie.

Dude, he's right. Lucas was responsible for the first three (and fourth) stories. But occassionally Lucas goes off his rocker and does aliens or Jar Jar Binks or Ewoks. It's to be expected.

You're a cool dude, psycho, but right now you're making yourself look like an ass. . .

I guess i have to spell it out more with caps for everyone here to understand.

LUCAS SHOULD NOT BE INVOLVED CREATIVELY IN INDY5, AND SHOULD LET SPIELBERG DO IT WITHOUT LUCAS INTERFERING.

I give Lucas credit for the first three movies. But since his departure from movies since indy3, all his movies sucked. Which is pretty much star wars 1-3. Yes i thought Ep.3 sucked, but had some good moments, but i guess that i just dont like star wars in general..

Seriously people, how can you support Aliens in an Indy movie? just sad IMO.

LOL i guess i can do that..... but i loved the Indy movies since i was a kid. It went 3/3, and after seeing those movies, i started to see other movies from Lucas like star wars. My expectations were high for this movie when i heard Ford and speilberg were doing it. After i seen it, the first words me and my friends said were "what the f*** was that?", and i was NOT the only person in the theaters that said or thought that.

I will be praying that Indy5 does not use Lucas as a creative mind. Why? cause of indy4, and it would probably take another 19 years to make another one.

Anyways i have seen worse, anyone here remember Spiderman3?

for two reasons.

1. Many non-Judeo-Christian religions involve inneraction with visitors from the Heavens. Looking at the ancient Egyptian or even as recently as the Druids of the 1100's, there has been the beliefe that some powerful visitor from Heaven came down and granted the people great knowlege and technology (irrigation, the lever/fulcrum, math, etc.). And many believe that these ancient religions believed these people from Heaven were from space. So the film just makes the same leap of faith they did in the first three films and assumes there is truth in this philosophy as well. I mean, if one religion is right, why can't they all be?

2. The films are a tribute to the B films of their time. The first 3 take place in the 30's, when action seriels like Zorro, the Lone Ranger, Tarzan and the Phantom were huge. So the fist 3 Indy films capture some of those elements.
The most recent film takes place in the 50's, so it pays tribute to the B films of that era, which were science fiction movies like "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "War of the Worlds".

My only dissapoiintment is that they didn't do a film in between 3 and 4 that would take place in the 1940's as a war movie tribute.

As a fan of the history of cinema, I loved it though. And while I can understand you not liking it because it may appear different than the others (no Nazis, no Christian relic), the second film was pretty different as well (mystical rocks, Thuggee warriors, magic sleep).

i dont like the spear cause it was used already in movies like Hellboy and Constantine. i'd want something original, possibly the fountain of youth even though its used in the fountain and mentioned in POTC, but The Fountain doesnt count because that was more of a mess than movie.

Star Wars nerd or not, you made some excellent points which he had no actual responce for, other than an insult or two.
You get the point this round.
What ? the whole Lucas created him and Spielberg made them? I know that much. That guy didnt understand why i didnt like Indy4, and my suggestion, along with many others after seeing this mess of a movie is that Lucas stays out of the story creatively, and just finance it since all his movies starting from Ep1-3, now Indy 4 sucks.

That's all subjective.

"I seek faith in the unfaithful just as you seek peace and atonement in a war-torn world."

"The common wit is not fair to middling."

"Laugh at me all you want, one day you'll all be kissing my feet."

"Young age is no excuse for poor taste."

"To be a prep is to be blissfully unaware of one's own mediocrity."
