E3 News

SUBMITTED BY Fred Hill

May 17, 2001

Video Business ran an article on the 14th on some of the games that can be found at E3. In there were a couple of games that were drawn from some movie coming out this summer. Here is what they had to say along to the story on the movie. A special thanks to Squirk for finding this huge piece of news!

It's springtime, so once again the gamers are ready to gather for E3 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. There's much in play this year: Xbox, GameCube and Game Boy Advance are on your doorstep, and PlayStation 2 is prepping for its second holiday season. Hollywood is bringing Mission: Impossible 2, The Terminator, The Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Harry Potter, Driven, La Femme Nikita and Batman Vengeance to a console near you. Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy are going the other way, from game to the big screen this summer.

More than 750 PC, console and online videogames will be on display at this week's show. What's a retailer to do? Have no fear, we've got the games you've got to have...

The Mummy Returns

John Gaudiosi

(Universal Interactive Studios)

After releasing a GBC version simultaneously with the May 4 theatrical release, UIS will ship this PS2 game simultaneously with the expected October home video release. This third-person action-adventure allows players to fight the Scorpion King as hero Rick O'Connell or bad guy Imhotep...

The next-generation batch of games will bring more realism to the ring while including all the wrestlers, moves and antics that make the TV shows and pay-per-view specials so popular.
