Welcome D.!!!

I think they were all briliantly chosen for their characters. Liv. was my least fav. and even she is not bad. Wood and Blanchet were INSPIRED IMHO I can't think of anyone more perfects for those roles - not to mention Orli's portrayal of an elf - PERFECT.

Well - that's my nut-shell version

I don't think the casting could have been more perfect, Viggo had that hard outdoorsy look and I'm sure cleans up good to look kingly, Orlando had that delicate, light as a feather elf thing right on!, you can't beat rys-davies as a dwarf. Ian Mckellin brings gandalf to a new level, a bit more Liv then there should be, but she still brought a tear to my eye when she came in speaking elfish and looking absolutly beautiful. Frodo I feel should have had a bit more meat on him but elijah kicked *** non-the-less. the rest of the cast and characters, were just excellent. not one complaint by me. Even Boromir brought a tear to my eye at the end.

I think the cast is great. They all play off of each other so well. I was disappointed when they didn't get the SAG award for best cast of actors. Then there is the fact that you've got the hobbit hotties and one very sexy elf in the mix. That makes the film even more enjoyable.

Smile and nod!

The cast was very close, as they would have to be working on one project for 18 months, more or less.

In addition to pikcing talented people, PJ did well in picking personalities, not just names. Whether or not they had a lot of lines, or were perfectly in accord with the books, they were all pretty unique.

For those that were perhaps disappointed with some of the characters, I still maintain that there is not another cast I can remember in recent memory that I thought of their character first when I saw them, not the actor. (The Julia Roberts syndrome)

I LOVE the cast! I don't think PJ could have found anyone better for any of the parts! (Well, maybe not Liv, but she's ok.) I especially love the 4 hobbits. Lij, Sean, Billy, and Dom were just awesome!

I think that cast did so well together. I really agree with Cyber Melody in that they played off of one another so well. I don't think they could have had a better cast if they had tried. I was also really bummed when they didn't get the SAG award or the Oscar for best cast and best picture. But hey. There are still two more movies to come and they still have good chance!

And the best part is...it ain't over yet!

It's quite a brilliant thing to have all the movies in the can, and not have to re-negotiate with each of the many actors.

I think I've seen the finest work of their careers for several of them. Certainly for Viggo, Sean Bean, arguably Ian McKellen (he has done so much fine work), and Elijah, wow, he just blows me away now.

Liv Tyler's acting was cringe-worthy ("Where the others are, I do not know" ... ugh ...), but other than that the cast was excellent, particularly Sean Astin, Sean Bean, Hugo Weaving, Ian Holm, Viggo Mortensen and Christopher Lee. But the best of all was Dame Ian McKellen, who should have won an Oscar, even if it was for Best Beard. He deserved one.

I don't mind Elijah as Frodo, but what was wrong with Dom?

He LOOKED like the German paintings of Frodo.

Plus didn't he have a more HE MAN type look than Elijah?

I thought that this was a once in a lifetime casting and Peter Jackson saw something in them that made this series of grand movies the EPIC it truly is. Some have called it a trilogy, but im sorry to say this they are wrong, there are plenty of trilogy worthy movies out there, but these movies are so far beyond that. These movies affect people right down to the core, especially the actors whom I think may well go on in their careers and do even better work, because they did this movie!

I was completely impressed with every member of the cast: Elijah, Ian McKellen, Ian Holm, Orlando Bloom, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Andy Serkis, John Rhys-Davies, Hugo Weaving, Viggo Mortensen, and one of the best ones of the bunch....Sean Astin, he is the one above some of the others I think has been making a great deal of impact on me. I think the whole cast deserves some recognition by the SAG people, the Oscar people, and The Golden Globe People and others as well!! Individually, They've all brought their characters to vivid life, and I still think Ian McKellan deserved the Oscar for the first movie. But, im sure ROTK will get some nods for this next oscar race, my pick for best supporting actor....Sean Astin. Thats essentially what he did in the movies so far, supported Frodo in what had to be done, no matter what happened, or who they happened to meet along the way. We shall see what happens when oscar comes about.....
