With Cancer man, he smoked in every scene on the X Files, but didn't want to smoke real cigs, so they rolled up cloves (an herb) in ciggie papers. A lot of people put cloves in ham and we used to put them in oranges to hang up as a room freshener til the orange gave out and got icky. The ones cancer man smoked did not have anything to get addicted to like tobacco or nicotine. I think they also did not damage the lungs nearly as much, but I'm not sure of that. He wanted to stop, so he went to the hospital and they sewed his lips together. He still carried on smoking - he used to put the cigarettes up his nose. So the doctors stuffed some insulating foam up each nostril. But he still carried on smoking - and it wasn't through his ears, I can tell you. You'd be sitting on the bus and everyone would wonder where the smoke-rings were coming from. In the end they tried acupuncture.
