December 7, 2001 — E! Online gives Ocean's Eleven an "A-".
As a popcorn flick pleaser, this caper comedy cranks it up to Eleven. When incarcerated con man George Clooney loses the heart of ex-wife Julia Roberts to wicked and wealthy hotel owner Andy Garcia, the man of constant borrow gathers a bunch of experienced scam artists (all wonderfully played by Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle and Carl Reiner) to shame Garcia and hit him where it hurts most--in the pocketbook, by ripping off his casinos. High-rolling Erin Brockovich and Traffic director Steven Soderbergh gasses up this remake of the mediocre 1960 Rat Pack flick--especially when the Strip show kicks into high-tech heist mode--with a full deck of fresh faces, style and class. And the cast's often reported good time and camaraderie during shooting comes blazing through the silver screen. A sure bet. |
