The Last Castle Auction

SUBMITTED BY MrSnuggles

November 24, 2001Pictured below: Shoes!!! prisoner/guard boots used in the movie. Extras on the film will remember these only as a source of pain after a twelve-hour day on set.

Whewweve followed this movie the whole way. Before the camera rolled, during production, the premiere, and now the auction of all things The Last Castle related. On November 24th, Middle Tennessee Auction held, as you guessed, an auction for many of the smaller props from the film. Of course, the flag box in Colonel Winters office wasnt there, nor was his chair, however his desk was. Many of the items being auctioned off were things that were barely seen on screen, or not used at all. But, if you knew what you were looking for, you might have been able to find some great treasures if you are a fan of Rod Luries film.

The day of the auction turned out to be quite crummy though, which was the reason we didn't get to document all of the items being auctioned off. The dark clouds rolled in, as did the wind, and then the rain came. Many of the items on the ground or near the edges of the tent they had ended up water logged or just ruined. Colonel Winters conference desk, featured in the scene where Winter attempts to make Mark Ruffalos character Yates a snitch for him was there, but the rain ended up drenching many of the nice leather chairs and wilting the table. Boxes and boxes of prisoner and guard uniforms showed up, as did the curio cabinets where Winter kept his military collectibles in. A great find were the desk lamps, which were auctioned off in a bundle. Many people would never know a certain lamp was featured in a scene that wasnt included in the film, but will most likely be on the deleted scenes of the DVD. Frank Militarys character Doc, used the power cord to jump start a wounded prisoners heart to keep him alive. Other items included the leather sofa in the Colonels office, the secretarys desk, Army photographs to name a few.

So who showed up? Mostly people that had close to no idea what this stuff was, however featured extra Mr. Rico Moody showed up, reportedly looking through boxes of costumes for his for his personal wardrobe. No word on if his search was successful.

This stuff went out the door dirt cheap, every bit of it. If you missed it, or couldnt make it, head over to eBay next week, its a pretty much solid guarantee these people will be throwing up the prisoner and guard uniforms to bid on, and you can probably get them for a reasonable price.

If anyone out there went to the auction and purchased anything from the film, send in a picture to us so that we can document it.
