This is my first post. I am an extra on "The Castle". After reading all of the posts and articles, I thought I would put in my two cents worth. I have been working on this movie for about a month. I absolutely love every minute of it. It is definately the greatest summer job I have ever had. I know I complain about the conditions every now and again, but I try to look over that stuff. I mean, WOW, I'm part of a huge Dreamworks movie. Just sitting around watching the moviemakers do their magic is well worth all the other disadvantages. I've had some pretty terrible summer jobs where I actually had to do hard work. This is nothing like that. We're getting paid to sit around for most of the day doing nothing. The poeple that constantly complain probably never really had a hard job. This is just my opinion, but to all the extras that constantly compain, you don't have to be here. Go somewhere else. You'll probably get paid more. I just get tired of people whinning over the conditions every second they are there. The people that hate the food are always in the front of the lunch lines, and let me tell you they aren't sparring on the amount of food they get.
Don't get me wrong. Everyone out here isn't like that. It's just a few bad apples in the bunch. I have talked to several people that have the same incentive as I. I am an aspiring actor who loves the art and the business. I have wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember. Even though I'm only an extra, I still look at it as if everything I do is a close up. I don't direct everything I do towards the camera like some morons, but I try to be there when they need me. I know the possibilities of getting a line or upgrading in any way is pretty slim, but I still go on set everyday with confidence and readiness.
I love this job and I'll be depressed once its over. That%
