I don't know about you, but the last few years of getting bombarded with reality shows, strikes and what not I have gotten rather disgusted with TV in general. I miss my vampire shows like Buffy, Angel or gee go back further to Forever Knight. There is something to be said for the entertainment without the reality check and it appears they have forgotten that some of us prefer that to putting our wits against a fifth grader.

That said I was most excited when Moonlight was introduced to the Friday night line up. Here it was - after long last a show to just enjoy with some fine vampires and of course the damsel in constant distress. Considering the buzz it got and the fast following I knew I wasn't alone. Compared to what is airing I had actual hope this would last. Yeah, and just like that - a season of bliss and it was gone. CBS made a big mistake. I don't know where they get their ideas from, but to pull a show that was actually popular and well liked was rather stupid. Thank goodness Warner Brothers took the torch to release the Moonlight Complete Series on DVD. Repeat viewing is better than nothing (or so the consensus goes... I personally would prefer someone to pick this up where CBS dropped the ball and continue the saga).

DVD Synopsis

Any private eye knows a lot about other people's secrets. L.A. private eye Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin) has a secret of his own. He's a vampire, dwelling in a covert netherworld complicated by friendship with an undead finance honcho (Jason Dohring), memories of the alluring ex-wife (Shannyn Sossamon) who turned him into a vampire and a relationship with a human (Sophia Myles) he feels drawn to protect - and maybe to love. But no matter how tempting, Mick knows a vampire - human romance is eternally dangerous.

This 16-episode, 4-disc set of the series voted the 2008 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama is a sure entertainment bet for all who like their vampire stories sleek, intense and passionate.

This was one show where the cast was flawless, they perfectly clicked together and the chemistry was palpable. I cannot say one bad thing about any of the cast as each did a phenomenal job with their characters bringing them to life in such a way you were hooked on the very first preview. The story line didn't drop off after the first few episodes as most shows often do. Instead it kept getting more and more interesting bringing forward glimpses and tidbits to the greater past and keeping you hooked until the very last episode. I don't want to give this gem of a series a complete overhaul since I want YOU to give it a try yourselves - and see if you don't get just as hooked as the rest of us.

One thing that was a bit disappointing (ok VERY disappointing) for this DVD release was the complete lack of any DVD bonus features to enjoy. Considering I have seen outtakes and behind the scenes on the net I was at a loss as to why nothing was included.

If you haven't watched the series before you definitely should. This is worth keeping in your collection even with the lack of extras. After all you can never get too much Mick St. John!
