CD Exclusive: Mr. & Mrs. Smith DVD Review
FEATURE
POSTED 2005-11-28 | PRINT | MORE ON THIS COUNTDOWN

By Fred Hill

One of this summer's biggest movies is coming to DVD on November 29, 2005. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is an action packed movie that looks and sounds great on the small screen, however if you are looking for extras this DVD will be a let down.

The main draw on this DVD release is the movie. The picture is sharp and sound is clear and crisp. If you have a nice surround sound system make in sure you crank it up so you will be able to feel the explosions that are going on on-screen.

There is not much else on this DVD. There are deleted scenes however; half of them are longer versions of the scenes already in the movie, nothing really that new to see. There is also a made-for-TV featurette that breaks down a scene. The featurette only lasts 15 minutes tops, plus it was shown on TV so nothing new.

The only thing that has been made for this DVD that relates to the movie would be the full-length commentaries by the crew. There are two to choose from and each gives some information about the filming and how the process went. It is like your common commentaries found on most DVDs.

There was a sneak peak of Fox's new movie, The Sentinel - which will come during the spring of 2006. When they say sneak peak they mean trailer which will most likely hit movie theaters during the holiday run. So you might have a week or two jump on this before you start seeing it played.

If you liked the movie and want nothing more from the DVD then that, you will be happy with this release, however if you are looking for something a little more packed with extras, then I would wait until the next edition of the DVD to come out. There is sure to be a "special edition" to come out which should have more content on it.

The disc comes in two flavors, you will have your standard choice of widescreen or full screen formats. The audio options on the disc are 5.1 DTS & Dolby Surround in English, and Dolby Surround in Spanish and French. The release date is November 29th with a price around $15 (USD).
